What Should Be in Your Fall Window Cleaning Checklist?

Regular cleaning and maintenance will help maintain the appeal and efficiency of your Direct windows for the years to come. They ensure the smooth operation of your windows and can even prolong their life. Without fingerprints and debris obstructing the glass, you can enjoy more outdoor views, and more sunshine will enter your living space.

Here’s what to include in your fall window cleaning checklist.

Prepare Your Supplies

Prepare a soft bristle brush, microfiber cloths, sponge, bucket of soapy water and residue-free glass cleaner. Never use abrasive chemicals and tools for cleaning your windows. Only use products or cleaning agents recommended by the manufacturer. Doing so can help you avoid damage and delay the need for a window replacement

Avoid cleaners with scents, soaps and dyes because they can leave streaks and attract dust. Instead of newspapers and paper towels, use a microfiber cloth for wiping your windows. Some paper products have softening agents, detergents, or inks that could stain the glass when wet.

Don’t Forget About Window Treatments and Screens

Before the actual window cleaning, remove curtains and drapes and wash and dry them. Wipe blinds using a damp microfiber cloth. If you have screens, remove and clean them too. Using a soft bristle brush, remove dirt and debris from frames and tracks.

Clean Your Windows on a Cloudy Day

Cleaners will evaporate fast when the sun is up and it’s hot outside. As a result, streaks will form on the glass. It’s why you want to clean your windows on a cloudy day. Clean your windows in a side-to-side or up-and-down pattern, working your way from the top down. Avoid wiping in a circular motion because it can create a static charge that can attract dust. To ensure streak-free glass, dry the windows completely.
